Section 2: Practicum Professional Development Objectives

I am interested in pursuing a nursing career, probably in a leadership position in a treatment environment where I am not only concerned with interpreting medical policy but also framing new policy based on existing problems within the treatment environment Practicum Professional Experience Plan Paper. I have had some nursing coursework, as well as some practical nursing experience but these are not enough since I understand that learning is a continuous process that requires regular synthesis of new information and experiences. I intend to begin my nursing career in reference to work within a primary health care environment, and I require some hands-on, practical experience to accompany my theoretical nursing coursework (McKimm & Swanwick, 2009). In reference to this awareness, the following three objectives are proposed for consideration in structuring the practicum aspect of my coursework during summer, 2018:

Objective 1: To analyze at least three barriers to effective communication as experienced in the healthcare environment, and develop viable solutions to the barriers based on current and best available evidence to advance the concept of evidence-based practice (Cipriano & Murphy, 2011; Warm & Thomas, 2011).

Objective 2: To contrast the performance of different medical units within the healthcare environment with regards to retention and recruitment of novice nursing staff with the intention of identifying units with high turnover rates and the factors that cause the high figures while expounding on them based on current peer-reviewed literature (Murphy, 2011).

Objective 3: To develop and prioritize a one-month productivity expense report that will be used in the budget development for upcoming expenditures and incorporate a balanced unit financial statement in accordance with previous budgets and current evidence-based literature (Sørensen, Delmar & Pedersen, 2011) Practicum Professional Experience Plan Paper.
