Nursing is identified as an important profession in the medical field, requiring both dedication and sacrifice to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. (2017) add that the threats are present in every environment where nursing services are offered with medical facilities presenting the greatest threat since nurses have contact with a larger number of patients at regular intervals who could present with communicable and infectious disease. The implication is that the threats and hazards should be evaluated before effective solutions can be presented since this could act as a way of protecting the nurses (Ahmadi, 2015). Studies presented in Cherry and Jacob (2016) and Thompson and Schwartz-Barcott (2017) note that every tool used by nurses as well as point of contact with patients is a potential hazards and threat, capable of manifesting into harm for the nurse. Ellis and Harley (1984) acknowledge that nursing is a dangerous profession, but the danger can be reduced through protective equipment that includes gloves, and hiring adequate numbers of nurses so that they are not overworked, and conducting regular hazard awareness trainings. In this respect, regular hazard awareness training could act as an effective strategy for reducing nurses’ exposure to danger in the workplace PICOT Statement Paper Assignment.

The second element is the intervention to be tested through research, presenting as conducting regular hazard awareness training during the course of the study where nurses recruited in the study are informed of some of the common hazards in the workplace and how to mitigate and avoid them. The third element is the control whereby nurses recruited in the study are allowed to operate normally without attending hazard awareness during the duration of the study. The fifth element is the desired outcome that has been identified as reduced nurse exposure to environmental risks where it is expected that nurses subjected to the regular hazard awareness training will present fewer incidence of accidents as opposed to their counterparts not subjected to the training. The final outcome is time whereby positive results are expected to occur within six months of consistent attendance of the hazard awareness trainings.
