Personal Application of 4 C’s to Practice

After viewing the material on the “4 C’s” (Caring, Courage, Compassion, Commitment) in nursing, reflect on your own personal experiences with these concepts. Then, review the article

Actions on concept mapping. Concept maps help the learner identify important interrelationships affecting an outcome and connect new ideas to previous knowledge to create meaningful learning. Lastly, concept maps assist in applying new knowledge or skills to real life situations.

Next, choose ONE of the “C’s” and develop a concept map depicting how you incorporate this concept into your own personal practice.

You may use the diagram templates in Word, another graphics program or you may choose to Google various diagram formats as a guide. Your concept map may be as simple or complex as you wish as long as you meet the assignment and rubric requirements. This is your time to be creative…so have FUN!

Think of at least 3 steps or stages you have learned that can be utilized in your practice to achieve this concept (e.g., Commitment may include setting goals, overcoming obstacles, and time management…see examples) with an explanation of each step/stage
Design a ONE PAGE diagram/concept map depicting this concept and how these THREE steps or stages lead to the ultimate outcome
In your post, identify how this process helps improve your ability to be Caring, Courageous, Compassionate or Committed (one paragraph narrative explaining your concept).
